A story about a modern debtors' prison in Michigan.

Fish-Fine Kyle Dewitt spent three days in jail because he was too poor to pay a fishing fine. (Dewitt disputes the charge).

“Long thought to be a relic of the 19th century, debtors’ prisons are still alive and well in Michigan,” Kary Moss, executive director of the Michigan ACLU, said in a press release. “Jailing our clients because they are poor is not only unconstitutional, it’s unconscionable and a shameful waste of resources.”

IMO: In the UK, Cameron's criminal and worthless regime will ensure -  through the 'cuts' - that paupers will not be allowed adequate legal defence. It is both difficult and in many cases often well-nigh useless even now ! The courts are only too often total crap already. Cameron will at best try to extract Army work where they will be cannon-fodder or maybe use them as free local slave labor. Cameron's idea of the Big Society seems to be a 'Slave Society' which givs plenty of free labor to his moat and duckpond pals. World War II was fought to deprive the world of such idiots as Cameron.
