Stephen Hawking
The Vancouver Sun has an article on Hawking's views. Alarmingly, Hawking does not seem to understand Karl Popper. And as might be expected Callender seems about right on the rest of it. "Perspectivalism" holds that there doesn't exist, even in principle, a single comprehensive theory of the universe. Instead, science offers many incomplete windows onto a common reality, one no more "true" than another. In Hawking's hands this position bleeds into an alarming anti-realism.
IMO: Huw Price maybe does better on perspectivalism but we are certainly well away from some easy populism, a lot of deep thought is better.
