LTTE can contest elections under new legislation

COLOMBO: In a major initiative to bring the rebels into the mainstream, the Sri Lankan parliament has passed a legislation to enable parties like Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the Karuna faction opposed to the Tamil Tigers to register themselves and contest elections in the country.

IMO: Of course, in principle this cannot be bad, but Tamil Eelam is no Scotland. Much more could be said, I'm sure.
