Death of Rizwanur Rehman

Kolkata, October 11 A day after Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee slammed the government for allegedly trying to hush up the Rizwanur Rehman alleged murder case, the CID grilled TMC legislator Javed Ahmed Khan.

The allegedly notorious Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today ruled out removing any of the police officers, including the Commissioner of Police, whose names figure in connection with the mysterious death of Rizwanur Rehman while CID investigation into the case is on. He also dismissed the demand for a CBI inquiry into the matter which has sparked off a public outcry against the state police and the ruling party.

The "Times of India" seems to think the cops may have been tapping Rizwanur's phone.

IMO: In the UK, recently corruption allegations against Tony Blair were dropped, even after Blair seemed to have accidentally admitted guilt on public television. Sounds like a similar pattern of events.
