UK and USA justice is incompetent. "The Hole" and "Think First"
In order to reduce pollution, it seems an autist called Cottrell destroyed some Hummers and got 8.5 years in prison in California. Such people are well known not to be mentally normal and are badly treated in prison. In fact he was put in "the hole". It seems that he had acted erroneously but with best intent, far more than you can say about slimy filth like Blair and Bush.
But did the courts try to deal with him sensibly? Well it seems that a group of top scientists including Thorne and Hawking got up a petition saying, for example: "By the time he will have served his full sentence, Billy will have ended up a human wreck unsuited for any constructive participation in American society."
In my experience this means one thing, These courts are INCOMPETENT.I know of many other instances of such ridiculous behaviour, for example the "Think First" classes some people get in the UK, and of course the general NHS situation, mentioned in earlier blogs. I have come across quite a few people doing "Think First" (not me) and they all say it is crap. Actually it seems to be the sort of thing de Bono would have thought up during a nightmare and with best intentions by all concerned, "Think First" will NOT prevent reoffence however hard those who go to it try. These courses are a kind of "soft jail" and only of use in that sense. They have enough well paid social workers around. Surely better could be done.
John Brownlee might have said: "These gray humorless drones of political parties or corporations rushing to establish a presence... because it's the thing to do, will find themselves staring directly into the collective Goatse.cx of the Internet's soul."
